Ultraviolet UV Curing Lamps & Lights Manufacturer

Infrared Lamps

Infrared LampsInfrared lamps can be categorized into two general wavelengths: short and medium wave. Short wave sources (peak emission between 0.9 and 1.6 micron) provide excellent depth of penetration while medium wave sources (peak emission between 2.4-2.7 micron) rapidly heat the surface and are highly absorbed by water films. Medium wave sources are extremely useful for most drying processes. They are efficient and economical sources of infrared.

Infrared radiation provides high efficiency, direct transfer of heat. Lamps are manufactured as single tube or twin tube. They can be produced in various lengths to match your particular process.

TCS Technologies offers replacement infrared lamps for drying, evaporation and heating of water based coatings, powder coatings, lacquers, primers, finish coats, printing ink and paints. We invite you to learn more about our products and experience the quality and value we can bring to your business. Infrared lamps are available for most dryers and are divided into several groups:

  • Infrared Halogen lamps  Quartz infrared heater lamps (QIH)
  • Medium Wave emitters
  • Short Wave emitters
  • Both the medium wave and short wave emitters are available in single or twin tube design. Both are available with Gold Reflectors to concentrate IR radiation

Halogen infrared lampsHalogen infrared lamps (quartz infrared heater lamps QIH) provide fast response and economical cost. Specifically designed for heating applications, they are available in a wide array of sizes, wattages and mountings. They offer:

  • Fast warm up and cool down typically, maximum output is achieved in 40 seconds yet provide rapid cool down when lamp is switched off.
  • Long life halogen cycle reduces wall blacking along with thinning of filament. Average life ranges from 1000 to 5000 hours

Quartz infrared heater lamps (QIH) are voltage sensitive. The halogen gas fill is designed for specific filament (coil) temperature. Always match incoming voltage to lamp voltage. Over voltage, say 10% high will shorten lamp life by 33%. Under voltage, say 15% results in low filament temperature negating the benefits of the halogen cycle. Operating slightly under voltage causes no harm and actually extends lamp life.

The table below references common infrared lamps offered by TCS Technologies. Many more are available. If you dry with infrared, TCS Technologies has the right lamp for you.

TCS Technologies provides standard short-wave infrared lamps to fit most existing dryers. Available heated lengths are 5, 8, 10, 16, 25, 38, and 58. Custom sizes, wattage and voltages are available.

Medium and short wave infrared emitters are manufactured to size for direct replacement into your dryer. They are available in single or twin tube designs. Pictured below are twin tube assemblies complete with gold reflector. This design greatly increases efficiency compared to standard infrared lamps. Gold is the best reflector of infrared radiation. Standard lamps radiate 360 degrees relying on a secondary reflector to focus infrared toward the item being heated. Secondary reflectors quickly become dirty and inefficient. Old, inefficient systems can be brought up to “like new condition by installing gold reflector lamps. TCS Technologies provides infrared lamps with an integral gold reflector resulting in the following advantages:

  • Increased efficiency compared to secondary reflectors
  • Virtually 100% of the infrared energy is directed toward the item being heated
  • Eliminates the need for costly, inefficient secondary reflectors
  • Can be grouped together for very high watt densities
  • Snap-in design for quick and easy installation; no wire connections necessary
  • Interior equipment surfaces run cooler

Twin tubes lamps are essentially two lamps fused together (see illustration above left). They provide more power per unit area and are typically used in printing presses. Lamps can be made in medium or short wavelengths. All twin tube lamps incorporate a gold reflector to maximize Infrared output. Lamps can be wired in series or parallel connection: see specification sheet

Medium and shortwave infrared

The easiest and most secure way of obtaining the correct replacement is by providing the following information:

  • Heated length
  • Total overall length
  • Watts
  • Volts
  • Tube diameter
  • Wave length: short wave, medium wave
  • Lead wire length if required
  • Part number if available
TCS Technologies offers a wide array of ink jet and web printing lamps. This includes direct replacement lamps for Heidelberg, Grafix and Heraeus equipment.

We also offer lamp mounting hardware consisting of:
